• If the digit in the hundredths place is 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4 simply round down the number at the tenths place to the nearest tenths.
• If the digit in the hundredths place is 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 round up the number at tenths place to the nearest tenths.

Question: Round 544.33 to Nearest Tenths?

Solution:

Given Decimal is 544.33

The hundredths place digit is 3 so we round down and remove all the digits next to the tenths place.

Thus, 544.33 rounded to Nearest Tenths is 544.3

Round to the Nearest Hundredths

• Look at the digit of the given decimal in the thousandths place.
• If the digit in the thousandths place is 0, 1, 2, 3, or 4 round down the hundredths place to the nearest hundredths place.
• If the digit in the thousandths place is 5, 6, 7, 8 or 9 round up the hundredths place to the nearest hundredths place.

Solution:

Given Decimal is 1469.157

The digit in the thousandths place is 7 so we round up the hundredths place to the nearest hundredths place.

We add 1 to the hundredths place and remove all the digits after the hundredths place.

Thus 1469.157 rounded to hundredths place becomes 1469.16
